Yes, I know, I design JEWELRY......Met an interesting Amish Family that I just wanted to work with. They grow gourds and create the most wonderful birdhouses! The young girls do all the painting; this Sunflower design is the most popular. We had a nest in ours within a week.....birds LOVE them. It's been up all year, its endured heat, wind, rain, snow, and still looks as pretty as on day one. Great Yard Art!
Bluebirds, martins, finches, swallows, wrens---to name a few, tend to like natural gourd as a nesting place over the more traditional wood box products.
